Universal Music Publishing Group Presents - Andrew W.K.
This mysterious promo disc was released in mid-2006, most likely to show off Andrew's new work. Not sure who they wanted to show it off to.
This disc was first discovered in May 2006, on ebay. Sadly, no member of the AWK community won it, and the tracks went unheard until August 2006, when the same seller sold ANOTHER copy on ebay, and AWK fan Justin Miller bought it.
Another copy (again from the same seller as the first) was sold soon after, and a little after that, Justin sent me the tracks on the disc.
In December 2007, I had an opportunity to pick up a copy of the disc, so I did (from the SAME SELLER as the last 3...where does he get these??). Now here it is for everyone, ripped at 320 kbps mp3 straight from my original copy of the CD.
01 My World
02 One Brother
03 I Want To See You
04 Vagabond
05 You Will Remember Tonight

First off, this CD is NOT a factory-pressed silver CD (as the seller stated in the auction). It is a promo acetate (pretty much a CD-R with a fancier name and a label). Definatley an in-house producion, stick-on label and such.
Track one, "My World", was eventually released in July 2006 on the Korean version of "Close Calls With Brick Walls" under the name "This Is My World". That version is the same as the one found on this disc.
Track two, "One Brother" is an alternate version, with a different breakdown not featured on the demo OR the album version, and is unique to this disc.
Track three, "I Want To See You", is also an alternate version, with a guitar riff in the begining, instead of the piano on the album version. The song's titled was also lengthened to "I Want To See You Go Wild" for the album.
Track four, "Vagabond", has yet to get a proper release. The song was first played on Sex Pistols' Steve Jones' radio show in April 2006. It was said that this song would appear on Close Calls, but the album came and went, and Vagabon was nowhere to be found. This disc is the only place at this point in time where the song can be found. Andrew has said that the album will now appear on a UK-only EP (listen here) coming out sometime in the future.
Track five, "You Will Remember Tonight", is the demo version, available first on Andrew's official site, then on the Masters of Horror soundtrack. This means that either Andrew opted not to put the new version that appeared on CCWBW on the disc, or that he put the new version together in less than 3 months.
Interesting fact, my copy has "4/28" written on the spine with white marker. Maybe the date this promo was released? The date the store which the eBay seller got it from received it?
